Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 550×700 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with black color. Then make a new layer set and name it ‘Hands’. In this layer add your image with hands.
We need to make our layer with hands black and white. For that go to Image -> Adjustments -> Black and White. Set parameters like below:
Create new layer. Take Lasso tool, set Feather to 60px. Now draw abstract circle above hands. Fill this circle with black color. Click Ctrl + D to deselect. We need add noise on this layer. Go to Filter -> Noise -> Add noise. Set parameters like below:
Duplicate layer with noise and set blending mode to Multiply.
Create new layer. Again take Lasso tool and draw abstract circle above hands. Fill circle with black color. Go to Filter -> Render -> Different Clouds. Click few time Ctrl + F to repeat this action to find better result. Set blending mode to Lighten and set Opacity to 45%
To little bit color smoke go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation. Set parameters like below:
Create new layer and fill it with black color. Go to Filter -> Render -> Lens Flare. Set Brightness to 100. Lens type: 50-300 mm Zoom. Set Blanding mode to Screen.
Create one more layer. Select Elliptical Marquee tool. Click in the middle of lighting. By holding Alt + Shift draw perfect circle. Fill it with black color. Dont deselect selection. Create new layer. Go to Edit -> Stroke. Set parameters like below:
We need to blur this stroke. Go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian blur. Set radius to 10px. Set Opacity to 80%.
Activate layer with circle. By holding Ctrl button, click on that layer, that will select circle. Create new layer. Fill selection with black color and go to Filter -> Render -> Difference clouds. Click Ctrl + D, to repeat this action, to find better result. Go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation. Set parameters like below:
Set Opacity to 75%.
Create new layer. Take brush tool. Select white color. On brush parameters, set hardness to 0 and draw line on planet bottom left side.
Set Opacity to 20%.
Create new layer. Fill it with black color. Go to Filter -> Render -> Lens Flare. Set brightness to 80%, Lens type: 105mm. Set Blending mode to Screen. Pull this layer under layer with planet.
Create one more layer. Take Elliptical Marquee tool and draw oval on planet. Go to Edit -> Stroke. Set width to 1px, color: white.
Duplicate this layer.Activate Free Transform tool. By holding Alt + Shift transform this oval, to make it smeller. Repeat this action few times. Merge these ovals in one layer.
To this layer set Blending mode to Overlay and duplicate few time this layer and delet parts of ovals that dont need to be there.
Create new layer. Fill it with black color. Go to Filter -> Render -> Lens Flare. Set Brightness to 40%. Lens type: 105 mm. Set Blending mode to Screen. Put this star on planets elliptical orbit. Add some more stars on orbit and in universe.
Almost done. You can create some more planets using this technique and add few stars.
